The rut begins

Over the years I have had very limited success when trying to call bucks. More often does have been attracted to the call. However, on this occasion a fine buck did respond. I know this buck well, he’s in fine condition and in his fourth year I think. He will pass on some good genes. I hope to get some footage of him driving a doe - we’ll see. Curiously he has tolerated up to now a younger buck on his territory and I have seen the old one moving and anointing here and there closely followed by the younger one marking exactly the same branch. Whether he will continue to tolerate the youngster during the height of the rut remains to be seen!
